Should I Be Worried?

Caught him playing with jiejie's Barbie doll Shocked ...should I be concern over his choice of play?? He likes to play "cooking" and must hug his soft toy to sleep. But he likes to play with cars and balls too. So am I overly worried?

No need to worry lar. My boy loves cooking too and prefers cooking channel then cartoon channel on tv. He loves playing with his sister's dolly too.

Don't forget that boys are XY...they still have the X genes! LOL

Hi, happen to drop by, my boy seems to prefer cooking channel to cartoon channel as well. He is 19-month now, but I guess it is fine as he is with his grand-ma the whole day seeing her cooking, so he is just following what she is doing :)

Just let him explore other things beside his normal boy stuff! It may even be a good idea to start educating him on "private " issues using the female doll...something like sex education lor!

girl, my younger boy hugs a bear to sleep, hugs a minnie mouse and walk around with it whenever he is in the toys dept, used to like PINK, and loves to play 'marriage', NOW YOU TELL me: "Should I be worried?"
*laugh*

NAH! don't worry lah! its the stage of exploration... the more they explore different things, the better for their mental development!

I always check out Rachel's blog so much so that I neglected her little brother. Little Nicholas is such a handsome little chap !!!!

I wouldn't worry about the dolls. My brother's sons plays with dolls when they were young too, but now that they are older, they prefer Ben 10.

Well, I have the same worries about boylet when he plays with Jiejie's things. Mine worries are real as a very close relative is gay, and he grew up liking girlie stuff too. So it could be in my boylet's genes!! Like you I also take comfort that at least boylet also plays boys stuff like cars and trains. Current fav is Kungfu Panda characters which inevitably end up fighting with each other. Let's pray very hard.

I think dolls still ok lah.Shows he has an eye for 'beautiful' women!!! haha! I would be more worried if he was playing with our make up and lipsticks!!! :)

Leona - hahaha..thanks! This is the best so far!! quite true, at least its better than playing with our make-up:)

Maybe Nicholas has observed too much on how the sisters are playing with barbie, thats why he learned from them.
I think not much worries.

Oh oh..... then my boy is in trouble. When SIL put nail polish for girlet, the boy wanted too. And he lets Jiejie put hairclips for him. I've banned such activities, but am still worrying..

Sarah's daddy & mummy - you have a point. Thanks

3lilangels - I don't allow my girls to put on nail polish, so my boy have no contact with such things yet. If he want, I would have banned it too!
