Its our youngest prince first time attending his friend's birthday party! It was at Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort! There were supposed to be some swimming time before they proceed to the kids' room for games. But it was drizzling and thus the pool was out of bound... so sad.
Nicholas was invited to join the kids' activities but I reminded the girls to decline politely if asked (not nice to make the host pay for more than what they should). So the girls stayed in there in our place to look after the 2 brothers and takes pictures while hubby and I explored around.
The girls said both boys were very well behaved and they enjoyed watching their brothers in action.
Why rare moment? hahaha...that's because this 2 just don't see "eye to eye". The big one just knows how to irritate the young one and the young one always pushes the old one away. So its very very rare that they get to be so close and smiling.
This was taken when Charmaine took off her pinafore and cheekily put in on for Ryan. Initially, Ryan struggled and whined and then, realised he looks "cute", he cheers up. Charmaine even converted her purse into a little handbag for him!
We find all this amusing but daddy was "RED" when he saw the photos..ops!
Spelling
We saw the biggest leap in his development this month as he started spelling his own name and simple words like "bus; ball; bell; no..." and 2 long words - his brother's name and the word "Banana". I was surprised when he spelled his brother's name as we had never spelled to him. Only after a few days later did it appeared to me that he must have learn it from this....
Their names were pasted on their room doors and so, I guessed he read it so many times till he remembered it.
For the word "banana", he told me that elephant taught him...! Nicholas said in WordWorld, the elephant taught the monkey and duck how to spell banana. In fact, he picked up all this words from WordWorld as we did not expect him to spell at this age.
Music
We were playing pretend games when he suddenly took a play-doh cake and sang "Happy Birthday"! Although his tune are out but yippee! All the words are there!
Prayer
He joined in our nightly prayer now too. He is able to prayer the entire prayer by himself without much prompting from me. After the fall, he added this sentence to his prayer..."pray that I don't fall
down again"
Bits and Pieces
When he was holding my ipad, I asked him a difficult question "You want mummy or ipad?" He held on to the iPad, eyes switch between the ipad and me, unable to decide. Then naughty me pretend to cry and mumbled that he wants iPad and not mummy. Poor boy then started to cry too! Naughty mummy!
He started to address me as "mum" now when he
decided to be cheeky. Ask where he learn this from, his reply "tor
tor"(nicholas)... That's remind me that Nicholas do call me mum sometimes when he
try to be funny.
One night while I was busy with the 2 girls and Nicholas is doing his work with grandma, Ryan suddenly came up to me and said this "Nobody wants me...nobody likes me..." in his super sad face and tone! hahaha...think he felt neglected that the adults are doing things with his siblings and no one was with him.
Handling him
Found a way to deal with him..although not sure if its the right approach...
He had been naughty these 2 days and I was a little angry with the
little fellow. He is not scared of anything/ anyone.
So I told him this "you naughty, I don't want to care about u anymore!" I
put him down and walk out of the house (to fetch the girls). When I got home with the girls, helper told me Ryan was sad and told her in his sad voice that mummy don't want him.
Although it seems quite mean of me, but for the rest of the day, he had been behaving himself and whenever I praise him, he would ask me "you want me?"
It was drizzling when I pick him up from school. He surprised me with his sweet gesture... sheltering me from the drizzling rain with his tiny hand! Its so sweet!
He loves to go grocery shopping with me and its hard to get him to sit in the push cart. So decided to let him have a basket and help with choosing the light stuffs.
Brought him along to do some last minute shopping for his uncle's wedding. He walked around with his cute little index finger tapping on his head (thinking) as he browsed around the area..so cute! Rachel spotted this Mickey ''glasses'' and put it on for him and we got this CUTE ''mouse''!
With him speaking more and ability to express more of his thoughts, he got more and more cheeky.
He loves acting out the character from the stories we told him. He can be the billy goat; the ugly troll; Bubbles (the monkey); Baby Panda; Owl babies; Winnie the Pooh.... He loves best to be the youngest baby owl and Baby Panda.
He likes to mimic how animals behave too. When he sees snakes on NGO wild, he goes sliding on the ground with his tongue sticking in and out.

He goes sliding in a "S" shape too when he wants to be a crocodile. The difference between a crocodile and snake is that when he is a crocodile, he will place his hands in front, opening and closing it, as if it is the jaws.
He is also super super clingy now!!! Especially at night, he goes crying if he doesn't sees me. He tells everybody "I don't want you!! I want pommy!" Pommy!" and goes screaming and running round the place looking for me. Even if I was in the toilet, he will insist on waiting outside and refuses everyone. Its a sweet feeling to be so WANTED but I do hope he get out of this soon.
This year, the girls' school held a Mega funfair to raise funds. Usually, its only for the girls and during school hours but this year, its open to public and a near full day event. The girls invited friends and relatives over and they remarked that its a very beautiful school...big, spacious, clean and nice... I raised both hands and legs in complete agreement!
The event took us months to plan and organize. I was in-charge of the Tattoo station and only managed to sneak out to accompany the kids for a while. The girls didn't need me to be with them...they had their own coupons (bought with their own pocket money). Hubby took care of the 2 boys and they love the train and the F1 most.
Ryan was down with fever, flu and cough for the last few days. Today feeling better, we took out some poster colours and papers. At first, we were just doing some painting with the paintbrush...then he started using it to paint his hands and feet! and we have little foot and hand prints everywhere...so glad I have helper to clear up the mess!
Chess tournament?? Nope! He is still not ready yet but I brought him along when the 2 girls had their competition. Oh..did I mentioned that he is learning chess too? Its been quite a while..he started in December last year.
Its his first time staying throughout the entire day (he came along previously but only for a short while). When the girls played, he played too with his One and Only opponent... ME.
And once he completed the game, he got to play on the ipad. One K2 boy was attracted to his ipad too and wanted to play with him. They decided to have a game of chess..
More boys crowded around when he played other games on the ipad...
So what about Ryan? Hubby brought him to the Zoo and they had a wonderful bonding time there too!
Nicholas was supposed to pack up his toys after playing with them before he is allowed to watch cartoon. But tonight, he was running late and dashed right down after brushing his teeth and did not keep his toys. So I called for him...
Me: why didn't you pack your toys before going down?
Nicholas (with a very sincere tone): I can't help it, mummy. I can't control my feet! I want to pack but I can't stop my legs!
I really tried very hard not to laugh out loud at his genuine face ! So I walked over and tickled him hard and told him I can't help it either. My fingers won't listen to me!
I'm at a lost at how to "punish" little Ryan when he is naughty. The usual "punishment" that works with his siblings doesn't work on him.
When I said I'll put him in the dark room when he's naughty, guess what his reaction is?! He happily opens the storeroom door, walked in and closed it with him inside the dark enclosure!!! (I've never refer that room as dark room, so we have no idea why he link the storeroom as dark room) When he did that, we can't help but giggles nonstop outside.
Or when I told him to stand at a corner and not move for his naughtiness, he cheekily stood next to the wall and placed his freshly cheek on the wall which then look so adorable!!!
At times when I scolded him, he will cover his mouth and smile *faint*
And I when I asked him if he wants mummy to beat beat his hand, he nodded his head and give me his little hand!!!
The only thing that will "upset" him is when I refused to give him his milk!
